Caring For Your Items
Rescued Clothing
This is new clothing so the best way to care for your items is to refer to the labels inside. The main labels will be cut but these should still be intact. These types of clothing will not be prewashed by ourselves. You may wish to wash these before wear due to storage.
Preloved
Most of our preloved items will be fairly modern/this century.
So, like the rescued items, refer to the inside care instruction labels. All preloved items, unless they still have the sale tickets on them, will be prewashed by us in a 30-degree wash. If the sales labels are still attached as they have never been worn, we will steam them before they are shipped out.
As these are second hand clothing, they will not always be perfect. All items will be thoroughly checked and described in the by-line, and any faults or damage will be explained.
Vintage
A lot of vintage items must be handled with care as the fabrics and stitching are more delicate than newer items. We will prewash where we can, or steam for freshness, but they may have signs of storage on them. For future care we suggest looking at the care labels if they are intact or consider dry cleaning.
Vintage means just that. These items will have a story and may show signs of their history. Enjoy the beauty of the age and era they come from, but this does mean there will wear and tear. All items will be thoroughly checked and described in the by-line and any faults or damage will be explained.
Store any Vintage items in dry clean areas out of the sunlight to avoid fading and damp as this can damage the delicate fabric. Try not to keep in cramp areas and keep aerated. Hang on padded or fabric hangers rather than metal or wood that can stain or leaves marks.
Remember the more you wash your clothes, whether new or old, it will slowly deteriorate the fabric. Consider hand washing, cold washes, steam cleaning, spot cleaning or wearing more than once. Washing clothes also uses a lot of energy and water and adds to our bills and harms the planet, think green! Hand washing is always a preference to machine, as it is economical and kinder to fabrics.
Recycling is our ethos. Try to repair items as soon as anything is noticed. Whether you can repair it yourself with a few stitches or a funky patch or go to your local reputable tailor. If you have grown tired of any items, consider an upcycle by adding or removing parts to suit a fresh style, sell on, gift to family or friends or donate to a local charity. We as a community need to stop clothing going to land fill as much as possible. If you have any vintage items for sale, you can contact us for a quote at info@queeniesrage.co.uk
